R.I.P. Ozzy
Last night one of J Mac's dogs passed away in his sleep. Ozzy was a Pomeranian who had a long fulfilling life. He was adopted by J Mac's daughter when he was 5 or 6. The agency adopting him out wasn't sure exactly. Ozzy's previous owners passed away and left him without a home.
It took a while for Ozzy to warm up to anyone other than J mac's daughter. He only warmed up to me when I was taking care of him when J Mac and her clan went on vacation. For several days he would only come out of his cage to eat, or go to the bathroom outside, then immediately go back in his cage. At around midnight of the last night he cried to get out of his cage. I thought he wanted out in the backyard but when I opened the door he wouldn't go. I sat down and he came over and sat in my lap. After a while of being petted he finally went back to his crate and back to sleep. We were friends after that.
Ozzy was generally laid back, preferring to lounge on the couch than anything else. He only got riled up when one of the other dogs in the pack tried to take his food. Then he'd go into a frenzy of snapping and barking. It was enough to keep everyone away from his food so I guess it worked.
Ozzy was a good dog and he will be missed.
